"The best way to preserve history is to share it — to make it alive and meaningful for those who come after."
Dr. Kakar authored more than ten books on diverse historical, political, and social subjects in Dari, Pashto, and English. He translated numerous works from English into Pashto and Dari, and published articles in academic journals including the International Journal of Middle East Studies and the Asia Society.
He spent the last years of his life contributing to the education of young Afghans, making the thoughts and ideas of western philosophers available in Pashto — setting a lasting standard for the translation of scholarly classics.
